My last day in Antigua, Guatemala, I received an amazing gift: a maceta
(flower pot) with a cactus in it. It came from a very special new friend,
Alvertina.
I met Alvertina with Victor Ordonez, my new Guatemalan friend and tour guide.
On my last day in Antigua, he was taking me to a little town called San
Felipe de Jesus. I wanted to visit the market there to buy small gifts to
take home and interact with the people. We were walking because I wanted
to see and talk to all the people on the way. If I had taken the bus, I
would miss encountering people. Plus, it was a gorgeous sunny day and I
knew I was headed home to snow in Massachusetts. |
