Under the Paperback Plus reading program, Houghton
Mifflin republishes children’s books with pertinent story lines
to entice learning.
“The Prairie Museum, 1900-1920” is an eight-page spread
depicting life on the prairie inserted in a black-and-white fifth-grade
paperback, “Skylark.” Each spread covers subject matter
showcasing items used in the home, on the farm, and for transportation
during that time. Marlisa worked with the editors to develop the content
