Mass General News
Massachusetts General Hospital's desire
for a new look for their remodeled News and Publications site came with
a few caveats. The first was the newest site had to reflect the
same color palette, navigation bar and venue housed in the hospital's
main web site, yet have its own identity. Secondly, MGH wanted
sure-footed architecture so navigation thru the extensive information
would be effortless. Although under the auspices of MGH, the News
and Publications departments, each entity wanted delineation from the
other.
The MCD Studio met the challenges. The carry-over
of the blue navigation bar from the main site, three main color coded
sections, tabbed interior pages and fourteen navigational choices enable
the layperson or professional user to steer through a sea of information
clearly while aware of their location within the site. By dedicating
a section of the home page to breaking news, which changes daily and
links to the news area, MCD reached a trade off. Publications had
their features and News had theirs all within the MGH Main Site format. This
helped both entities by bringing more frequent users to the main site
looking for the latest news.
